Pop Psychédélique is the title of a new compilation put together by Two-Piers. The 20-track double-LP is out in September and as the subtitle The Best of French Psychedelic Pop 1964-2019 clearly states, it is a mix of 60s yé-yé (which isn’t really psychedelic) and newer indie/garage groups like L’Épée (Anton Newcombe and Emmanuelle Seigner), Stereolab, Air and Limiñanas. It also includes an old track from French ex-pat Fabienne Delsol (The Bristols) with a Joe Meek-style production from Toe Rag studios. “Psyche Rock” is probably the only vaguely psychedelic track here, but the curators have gone for the Fatboy Slim remix for some reason.
