The Psychedelic Freaks is a new project from Horatio Luna – a bassist, producer and composer from Melbourne. Their first album, called Passing Through the Doorways of Your Mind, was just released by local label La Sape who have also worked with Godtet and Antiphon (in which Luna plays bass). As the colourful artwork gives testament to, this is a crazy cocktail of psychedelic jazz, funk and afrobeat with Luna playing bass, guitar and keyboards. The resulting 6 tracks are sometimes electrifying, like the dance-inducing “The Next Level”. Check out the video for “To the Funk Valley”.
