Liquids did release some new music digitally last year, but it’s actually been three years since their last LP. Their debut Hot Liqs remain one of my favourite punk records of the last ten years, and on their new album Life Is Pain Idiot (also the name of a song off of their last record) they’ve managed to cop Record Turnover album of the month. The 27-track record was released digitally in January, with a vinyl release to be announced later this year. Some of these songs have been released before, sometimes in different recordings, like the amazing “More Thana Friend” (Drunken Sailor, 2018). But this time everything sounds more power-pop. There’s even a ballad in “Tryin'”. And a Meat Loaf cover.
