The Cat’s Miaow have, in the wake of the resurgence of interest in sister group Hydroplane’s music, also awakened from slumber. After having their back catalogue reissued by World of Echo, they released new original music in 2023 – a split with Rocketship and then an EP. This year they’ve appeared on the ancient indie label Shelflife (a split with label founders The Autocollants) and are set to release their first album since the 90s next month. Slumberland have When You Smiled and Turned Away up for pre-order, and it’s lives up to principal songwriter Bart Cummings’ reputation for long song titles. And you can rest assured the sound hasn’t changed a bit either.
