Liaisons Dangereuses

RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #154

Liaisons Dangereuses was a German group that was founded by Chrislo Haas who was also in Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Beate Bartel of Mania D. (other members went on to form Malaria!). They were joined by French-German vocalist Krishna Goineau whom we wrote about recently.

The trios first and only album – the self-titled Liaisons Dangereuses – came out in 1981 on the German label TIS who also worked with DAF. Today it is a modern classic of underground 80s music with its futuristic mix of post-punk and early EBM. “Los Niños Del Parque” was selected for a single release in the same year and it’s said to have influenced both Chicago house and Detroit techno.

The album has been reissued several times, most recently by Soulsheriff Records. Beate Bartel was actually a founding member of Einstürzende Neubauten as well, before forming Mania D. I recommend checking out out her and Haas’ recordings pre Goineau’s appearance too, which were released as CH-BB.
