M.A.Z.E. is probably the best Japanese group I have heard since Tawings. The post-punk four-piece released a great 12″ on Lumpy Records a couple of years ago and also did a small tour of the US. Mark Winter recorded one of their shows, which you can check out here. Four months ago the follow-up II came out on Lumpy – whether it’s an album or not is up to you: 9 tracks in just 14 minutes. The fun may not last, but there’s reason enough to put this Mekons-inspired racket on repeat.
