Supreme Joy

Ryan Wong is one of the songwriters of Californian group Cool Ghouls (whose excellent new album we wrote of not long ago). Now located in Denver, Wong recorded the songs that make up Joy at home by himself 2020-2021 with the help of local musicians. Released under the name Supreme Joy, it’s a mini-album of songs inspired by Provoke Magazine, published in Japan in the 60s. Some of the 8 tracks definitely sound like they could have been composed for Cool Ghouls (like the psychedelic “EastWest”), but there are also heaps of other strains on this tape that came out in May. Check out the video for “Body Contact”, which sounds more like Wipers than anything else.
