Another impressive release on Phormix that came out back in February, is the debut album from Greek artist Tatat. VHS is a 10-track tape that was apparently recorded live mixed to one channel, with hardware synths, drum machines and pedals. It’s heavily inspired by 80s synthwave, with some really amazing analog synth sounds. I actually like that there’s so much reverb on everything. The overall sound is dark, but “The James Murphy Incident” almost sound like a lost 80s hit.
