Lionmilk is the project of LA-based jazz pianist and composer Mokichi Kawaguchi, who has been releasing self-produced cassettes for a few years. He was introduced to Leaving Records founder Matthewdavid by Mndsgn during a collaborative performance at the Leaving-curated concert series Listen to Music Outside In the Daylight Under a Tree, and the label has since been releasing Lionmilk’s music to a wider audience. I Hope You Are Well was originally conceived last year as ambient therapy “selectively dropped in mailboxes of close friends and family who may have been struggling with anxiety and depression” due to the lockdown. In January it was given a digital release by Leaving.
