Romy Church from Newcastle, Australia, has been making music as e4444e since his teens with a bunch of EPs/minialbums. One of them resulted in an EP of remixes in 2018, that had contributions from Rebel Yell and Sonic Boom (who’s also releasing a great new LP tomorrow). Next week e4444e’s first album and vinyl release Coldstream Road is coming out on Spunk! Records. His music has always attempted to blend acoustic folk with electronic sounds, perhaps inspired by other home recorders like Khonnor or Panda Bear. As you can hear on the three singles so far, he has reached a now balance that sounds very organic. The album verges between the sparsity of opener “Country” and longer fleshed-out tracks like “lake/dawn”.
