Dry Socket is a Portland group playing a melodic kind of hardcore – and having recently seen Gasoline Rainbow they would’ve fitted in much better than Spoon Benders. Their first album came out in 2024 and in March their follow-up Self Defense Techniques came out via Get Better Records. Vocalist Dani Allen’s voice reminds me a bit of another band on the same label – the legendary Control Top. The 8 tracks on the mini-album have a similarly polished and fat sound. Still decidedly punk though.
