L’empire des sons

RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #182

L’Empire Des Sons were a little-known French group who released two albums in 1986 and 1990. The ensemble consisted of Bip Redon, Dominique Lentin, his sister Isabelle Lentin (of Virgule IV) and a handful of unknowns. They from around Saint-Étienne and recorded their privately released album L’Empire Des Sons at Jean-Jacques Mouton’s countryside studio in and at the legendary Translab studio, which has remained in its original location since opening in 1976.

The album was reissued by Brooklyn label Mexican Summer’s sublabel Anthology in September and is a fascinating mix of new age music and underground currents.
