Detriti have unearthed what call the first Persian dark wavegroup. Semuru, whom we have to guess originate in Iran, have recorded a song featuring the lyrics of Ali Asadollahi. Asadollahi is a poet who is currently detained in Tehran and the poem they picked is called “The Downfall”. It’s a post-punk protest anthem dedicated to everyone who is standing up for their rights in Iran and might be one of the most important songs we’ve featured in the past year.
