White Poppy

Vancouver meets Los Angeles as Crystal Dorval returns with her fourth release for the Not Not Fun label as White Poppy. The music has developed a bit from its lofi shoegaze beginnings to a more dreamy production that at times sounds like a full band. On Paradise Gardens that came out during the first half of 2020, multi-layered guitars weave in an out of carpets of reverberating harmonies. “Rainbow” is a good example of the calming sensation as the soundscape reaches its full potential. It’s a gently optimistic record in the face of mental hardship.
