Here’s a record I came across solely due to Swan Meat’s mastering duties. Wintermute is a US artist who’s real name is Alex Burgett. So if you had this confused with the German drum’n’bass artist Wintermute, you’re way off the mark. Scanners is a 4-track EP that came out last month on the Japanese label No Catharsis, which launched earlier this year. If I’m not mistaken it’s Wintermute’s first release and an eclectic one at that blending electro, bass and breaks. The dystopian theme is prevalent throughout, especially on the chilling “Ghosthack”.
