We recently wrote about The Hague artist Dim Garden, whose recent EP made a big impression on me. Now they’re back with what is the first album of real songs from Dim Garden. Last year’s release was mostly field recordings and this year only a live tape has been released. L’Âme Malvenue is a brilliant album, full of toy keyboards, static, minimal wave type songs and distorted vocals. Despite being mostly electronic, it feels very much connected to nature and organic material. I’m not sure if ‘pre-industrial’ or dungeon synth is the best description.
