Los Microwaves

RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #34

Los Microwaves was an oddity on the Californian new wave scene, forming as early in 1978 – around the same time as Suburban Lawns or Devo. Pioneering the synth-pop sound, Los Microwaves was perhaps even weirder. Their only album Life After Breakfast came out in 1981 on Posh Boy and was reissued by Dark Entries a few years ago. You’ll hear early portable synthesizers and processed percussion on songs approach theatre or musical numbers. The group broke up in 1983, with David Microwave continuing to make records. Check out this live performance from NYC in 1983.
