Remember Beaters from San Diego? They sounded like a Californian version of Blank Dogs and released a few records around the last turn of the decade. Now they’re back as ‘Beating’ and have a new mini-LP out on their old label Volar. The six songs are sprawling post-punk tunes with wiry guitar and cold synthesiser melodies. The self-titled album also includes a cover of “Same Old Madness” by Ministry, which is surprisingly great.
