Also on Epitaph (the label run by Brett from Bad Religion) is Mannequin Pussy from Philly. After their classic debut from 2014 (which included tracks like “Pissdrinker” and “Clit Eastwood”) they’ve been quiet since album #2 four years ago. But now they’re back with a new label backing them and their most ambitious release yet. Patience addresses the most missed quality of people’s lives today, while the cover art depicts a globe on fire. The production has the same huge 90s sound that e.g. made Snail Mail’s debut a mainstream crossover hit. It makes for a massive contrast from the languid “Who Are You” to the hardcore punk of “Clams”. But it works. Wonders.
