One of my favourite albums of the year so far is Haley Forh’s (Circuit des Yeux) alter ago Jackie Lynn, who debuted in 2016. In April her second album Jacqueline appeared on Drag City and it’s such a beautiful and freeform collection of songs with many different layers that it’s taken me until now to write about it. Check out the video for “Dream St.” in which we’re introduced to the fictional trucker persona of Jackie Lynn. The album steers clear of most genre definitions on its road towards Shangri-La. The funky 80s glitter of “Diamond Glue” is an immediate favourite, but even the more experimental tracks like “Control” are incredibly captivating.
