Slush

New band featuring Acacia Coates who is also in Pinch Points. Slush is a three-piece from Melbourne who just released their first EP last month. The five songs take their queues from riot grrrl groups like The Peechees or The Frumpies, but adding a modern sound not unlike that of Skegss. You can get their the tape from Hysterical Records, and you should, because these are among the catchiest tunes you will hear all year. Opening track “Bleed” sets the tone nicely, and also makes me miss NYC group Thick. We really need more groups like Slush, to balance out the sexism of most of the rest of the punk scene.
