Swimming Bell is the nom-de-plume of Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Katie Schottland. Last year she released an album on the Los Angeles label Permanent, which you might remember from its 2010s heyday. Swimming Bell’s music is often referred to in a folk context but to me it’s obvious that 60/70s soft-rock influences have been equally important – as it is with e.g. Weyes Blood. Her new EP called Somnia is out tomorrow on Pennsylvania label Perpetual Doom.
