Sophia Connor is an artist I actually don’t know anything about, but I assume she’s from Chicago. That’s because she’s on the small Chicago tape label Grouse Editions, which is run by the folks behind Hunting Scene. That’s actually the cover of her old tape up there, released two years ago on Grouse. For some reason we never wrote about it back then. All the more reason then, to tell you about the new record coming out on May 11, which looks as though it might be a vinyl release – like some of the label’s latest releases. It’s called Broken and Flayed and consists of 6 tracks, one of which you can hear below. If it’s anything like her old tape you can expect a mix of industrial electronics and eerie vocals, but all with a folky touch.
