Altered States have also released a great many wonders this year, with Aemong’s tape Mother Is Supreme definitely being one of the highlights. Aemong is the Berlin duo of Yu Ching Huang (Taiwan) and Henrique Uba (Brazil). They’ve released a couple of tapes before and this 6-track album sees them continue to develop their sound towards an experimental minimalism that includes voices, samples and vague rhythms delivered over hissing and creaking carpets of sound.
