Melissa is a hardcore group from Brooklyn that takes a hefty dose of inspiration from black metal. Nowadays there are cross genre blends of all kinds inspired by the black metal of the 90s, probably as a part of the wider reification of that decade. Melissa just released their second EP via Urge Records, and it’s an excellent follow-up to the 2021 debut. The 4-track Melissa II tape with its chilling vocals from Jane Pain came out a couple of days ago and sold out in a blink.
