Futurisk

RECORD TURNOVER 80s HITS #59

Futurisk was an original synth-punk outfit from the south of California, active in the early 80s. Their first single was an anti-war anthem called “Army Now”, that came out two years before the the Belgian synth-pop hit “You’re In the Army Now” by Bolland & Bolland. A decade ago Minimal Wave released a retrospective of all their singles, called Player Piano, but next month a new 7″ box set is coming out. It includes their two singles, the unreleased Ocean Sound single, and a flexi with a later version of “Army Now”. The “Army Now” vinyl also holds an unreleased track called “Live For Today”, which wasn’t on the 2010 reissue. You can listen to all the track on the MW website.
