Cloud Factory is a new band on the post-punk scene of Toulouse, including Robin of Cathedrale on guitar. Singer and keyboardist Alice brings an essential part to the sound, which does owe a bit to the experimental pop of Stereolab or Quickspace. The Cloud Factory #1 came out a few days ago along with a video for opening track “Amnesia”. The EP is a split-release by Howlin’ Banana and Le Cèpe and is full of 90s throwbacks, without lever losing sight of songwriting standards. My only objection is that most of the songs chug along at the same tempo, which makes the similarity between songs apparent.
