While checking in with Alien Snatch! I noticed that San Fran powerpop band Cocktails have recorded another album that came out a few days ago (split with Wizards + Potions). Catastrophic Entertainment is their third LP and first in three years. Here we get a full serving of sunshine guitars a la The Love-Birds and hefty choruses worthy of Honeyrider. “Love Is Gone” and “Washoe County” are unexpectedly among their best songs to date. Who would’ve thought they’d come this far, listening to the demo of “Let It Come Down” somewhere back in 2012?
