SPF have famously been described as “a band from Oakland”. Or as featuring members of Cube, Mansion and Jackie-O Motherfucker. A trio? Either way, their first vinyl LP Paul’s McCartney came out on Digital Regress at the end of last year. Limited to 100 copies, this won’t be hitting the Top 40 with its mesmerising mix of musique concrete, noise and electronics anyway. If you like this kind of stuff, listen to the semi-jazzy “Take the BART Train” and fall in love. I wish I knew what SPF stands for, but all google will throw me is Singapore Police Force. They probably weren’t involved with the making of this LP, and neither was Jason Wade (Lifehouse) in the succeeding self-released tape Thank You: Jason Wade.
