Cloth from Glasgow released their first album in November, but I’ve only just heard it (thanks Monorail!). Cloth is a complex record albeit minimal. Taking their cues from Mogwai and Young Marble Giants, they’ve stirred together a potent mixture that will keep you warm throughout the rest of the winter. “Sleep” is my new favourite song to play before going to bed. “Holder” was the first song to released – their label Last Night From Glasgow included it on a split-EP with Domiciles and L-Space already two years ago. The interplay between the Swinton twins’ guitars on this track and most of the rest of the record gives it a sense of hushed intimacy.
