One of my favourite performances from the Blush label showcase in Berlin (apart from Gweynn!) was by an artist I wasn’t familiar with. Sta Dormida played a set on acoustic guitar over a backing track. As well as reminding me of groups like Cindy and Mazzy Star, she has a unique songwriting style which you could hear on last year’s selfreleased EP More Like Never. Originally from California, Iris Camargo (pictured above) has been making music for a couple of years and has also done radio for UCLA and Noods. Her latest release is a 7” lathe with Perlah, which is the slowcore side project of Gustav Kemps who also joined her on stage for a couple of tracks. “Parachute” came out on Blush and Los Angeles label Motion Ward, with the 50 copies selling out almost immediately upon its September 14 release.
