Filmmaker’s other alias Renderer is back on Body Musick with a new EP. The electro-leaning Electric Shepherd has a cleaner-sounding approach to production but retains the masterful layering of broken beats, synthesiser melodies and bass lines from his main output. “Sci-Hub” goes into machine-funk territory but overall the mood is ominous and dark. The last of the 6 tracks, called “Terrain Automations” open things up again, with something that sounds like early 80s experimentalism between post-punk and hiphop. Out on Body Musick since September 4.
