Villanelle is a brand new duo comprised of Jessica Bellomo and Carmilla Sioux who met in Barcelona, after Bellomo relocated from Argentina. Sioux has a background in EBM and electro and released a great EP last year. Their overlapping tastes give way to a collaboration that favours vocals and melody over darkness and industrial sounds. The influences from italo are obvious on their first single “Infrarosso”, which we are premiering today. Similarly to Neu-Romancer and Tawny they dig into an 80s-inspired cinematic universe in the music video, which you can watch below. The video was shot by Nikole Krämer and is just the first taste of the duo’s output. I also saw them play a b2b in Berlin recently, so look out for their upcoming sets.
