Australian duo Troth, who are always on the forefront of what’s happening in underground music, have started the new label Dearest Latest. This is after meany years of Cooper Bowman running Altered States, but with partner Amelia Besseny he’s been hosting a bunch of shows on NTS and tapped into a well of sounds they’d forgotten about. The first release is Troth’s next LP, called The Limits of a Light Touch. These 9 tracks were recorded at home in Nipaluna 2025-2026 and while geographically isolated, the artists are part of a wide network of underground musicians globally. Now that triphop is suddenly trendy again, I think a lot of people might be amazed when they hear what Troth can do when they turn their efforts into making pop – however roundabout their way to get there is. Out on vinyl September 5.
