The shadowy figure of Lolina has been a part of the London underground for years – presenting incredible talents like New York to the world. Most that work has been undertaken through her label Relaxin’ Records. I was a huge fan of her idiosyncratic album Unrecognisable from 2024 and since then she has released a great single called ”gg” that we included in our monthly playlist earlier this year. Lolina’s new album Monopoly of Mistakes came out on Relaxin’ in May and it’s a cd with 11 tracks. Many of them sound like experiments that have been allowed to meander into half-finished states that allow them to breathe and shift under our gaze. But there are also more immediate tracks such as ”My Favourite Technique” that are impossible to resist.
