Reissued ten years ago, the only ever single by Plath remains something of an enigma. Formed in the Tuscan city go Prato in 1982 – Plath consisted of Silvia Innocenti on vocals and bass, and Fabrizio Lucarini on synthesisers and drum machine. Their only 7” was privately pressed and came out in 1982, with the a-side ”I Am Strange Now” appearing on the 2013 compilation Mutazione (Italian Electronic & New Wave Underground 1980-1988). That compilation was apparently curated by Not Waving, I had no idea about that.
Plath also had a couple of tracks on the very obscure cassette compilation Dark Movements N°1, released in 1982 as well. Discogs lists another release from 1985 – a split cassette with Malformation Mental – but only two seem to own it and there’s nothing online about it.
The 2016 reissue on Mannequin makes it a 12” with the addition of an edit from Alessandro Adriani. The 4-track EP is still available from a few distros. For some reason the band image on discogs is Lebanon Hannover, there are no images of the actual Plath.
