Oakland punk band Debt Rag returned with a new album in June. It Is Clear What’s Going On came out on Los Angeles label Post Present Medium and is a great follow-up to their 2023 album. The 10-track LP was created by the trio of Max Nordile, Lillian Maring and Marissa Magic who all used to play together in Wet Drag over a decade ago. Max has played in a myriad of groups in-between, such as Preening and Lillian (who’s also known as Ruby Pins) of course played in Grass Widow. They all bring their unique and shared histories to Debt Rag’s meandering sound that sprawls across the 17 tracks on this rather ingenious album.
