Berlin label Eremit Records released a new fundraiser compilation today, May 1, which is celebrated as an international workers day. In Sweden it’s actually a public holiday. Their first VA release, it gathers pieces from a range of artists who share the label’s ethos of “freedom, care and self-expression”. Among them you’ll find the duo IKYA (Krohm and Urška Preis, who are also a part of the Eremit team), French duo Cwtch and SXCL (pictured) from a French island in the Pacific. Holding Space goes beyond just downtempo in these 7 tracks and refuses to be tagged. Just like the hermit, which inspired the name of the label, this release turns away from conventional norms and truths of what music is.
All proceeds go to Schwulenberatung Berlin and TransAkcija Ljubljana.
