Portal Pets is a new group from Copenhagen – a trio that includes Xenia Xamanek on bass and vocals. Several of the tracks on their debut album, called Portal Pets, are sung in Spanish – giving it a Southern air that quite sets it apart from a lot other things going on musically in Denmark at the moment. There’s also a strong influence from Björk and Massive Attack, but little overlap with Xamanek’s other project X & Yde. I saw them play live in Sweden recently and the record sounds a lot like a live experience.
