We’ve been following Providence-based Emma Rak for a while so it’s great to see she finally has her first solo release out in May. The Cathexis EP is being released by Amsterdam label Somnia and includes 4 tracks of minimal but fast techno – full of atmosphere and dark rumination. Emma has a background in the East Coast noise scene, making experimental music and then playing techno with a live hardware setup – now also recording and producing with many compilation inclusions so far. On this record she really shows that creating a cohesive work with a strong concept is what she’s best at.
