It’s not every day that you get a new album from New York’s Bergsonist, let alone on vinyl. But now it’s happening – May 1 her new LP called Depths is coming out on Californian label Dark Entries. A fitting pairing considering they’re now both NTS residents. The 12 tracks that make up Depths were recorded 2016–2025 – in other words over most of her career. Selwa Abd, who’s been producing as Bergsonist for a decade, says “I really use making music as therapy, not as a precious act, more as an energy release that makes me feel alive”. And this record goes deeper into postcolonial heritages and the reclaiming of identity.
