A couple of years ago we got the reissue of Cranes’ classic debut LP from 1986 and also a Peel Sessions compilation. At the same time A.R. Kane’s equally classic ”i” record from 1989 was reissued. Now that dreampop is even bigger a trend, Music From Memory have dug deeper in the archived and pulled up this collaboration between Rudy Tambala of A.R. Kane and Alison Shaw of Cranes, originally recorded in the early 1990s.

Inrain was a short-lived project, that saw the light of day through the Rough Trade singles club in 1991. And the two were actually introduced by Geoff Travis from the label. The vocals were often improvised, with first takes preserved and the relaxed atmosphere became a part of the sound itself.
With Rise the three tracks have been repackaged as a 12”, adding ”Biology”, written and recorded in 2012. All the tracks have been remastered from the original DAT tapes and there’s bonus version of ”Sleep” in digitals. Listen to one of the tracks below.
