Slikback is the legendary Nairobi-born artist Freddy M Njau who has been operating on the borders of noise, and heavy bass music like gqom and trap for years. He released a track with Skrillex last year and is also one half of Aka Hex together with Aïsha Devi. He’s already released 9 albums, with last year’s Planet Mu record was a highlight. Now based in Poland, he’s set to perform at Rewire again next week (one of our highlights in the programme – check out the rest here) off the back of his February self-release Eftiama Kripha. This is a stunning 7-track mini-album from one of the best artists of the Nyege Nyege generation of experimental African producers.
