One of my current favourite producers is Temple Rat who is based between Berlin and Shanghai. Yuxin Mei has been making highly detailed electronic music for many years – appearing on Boiler Room Shanghai in 2019. Her first solo vinyl release was on Thai label Siamese Twins. The first time I heard her was on the Terenor compilation from December. Her new 12” is called Some Leaves Must Fall and came out March 6. These 6 tracks were composed in 2024 as Mei was moving between Berlin and Sichuan. It’s the inaugural release for Martin Gilleshøj’s new label Buttheads out of Copenhagen, which began as an event series.
