Matryoshka is a producer from Seattle that we’ve been following for the past two years. Real name Jaqueline Lawson, she hasn’t been the most prolific, but has delivered the highest quality. Following up her EPs Trash Angel and Mirror, she has completed a full-length record called Blasé Saint. It came out on the Manchester label Sferic on February 12. These 8 tracks sees her moving away from the heavy beats towards an immaculate downtempo sound, which you could also hear on her recent contribution to Exphoria. It lands in a territory somewhere between Malibu, bass-heavy dub and underground hiphop.
