It’s probably been a few years since we mentioned any music from before 1975, but with last year’s excellent reissues of Cradle’s music it was bound to happen.
Cradle was a Detroit group that grew out of the all-female garage group The Pleasure Seekers – kind of like a female equivalent to Black Sabbath. Now, The Pleasure Seekers are of course known for being Suzi Quatro’s first band. Quatro would go on to successful solo career in the 70s but her first band was a sibling group including her three sisters. In the late 60s the group had evolved into a hard rock four-piece, now with Nancy Rogers on drums.

They never released anything because Suzi got an individual record deal in 1971. But in 2010 there was a live recording from a Detroit show on New Years Eve in 1970 that came out via a Sundered sub label. Then in 2025, The History got a double-vinyl pressing. Once again with 12 tracks and available from Sundazed.
Also last year, the American reissue label Ancient Grease gave “Last Laugh” a single release, with “Living Machine” on the b-side.
