Orphx was a new acquaintance to me at Ombra this year, but I know now that I should have been aware of them since many years. The Toronto duo of Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey actually formed back in 1993 (then as a trio) and have made at least a dozen records and several live albums – including one from Berghain in 2012. They also performed at Ombra as Eschaton, which is their 2010s project with Ancient Methods. Orphx’ latest release is an album-length EP with 6 tracks called Theikos. It came out on KR3 Records last summer and is a perfect union of industrial and techno.
