Sharp Pins

If there is one guitar-led project that has me as excited this year as Children Maybe Later had last year, it’s Chicago’s Sharp Pins. Sharp Pins is the brainchild of Kai Slater, who also plays in Lifeguard. He’s about 20 years old but has come up along with the larger Hallogallo collective that also includes Horsegirl and other bands. Slater also creates their zine of the same name. Last year his self-released second album caught the eyes and ears of Perennial Death who reissued it on vinyl. And today they release the new record Balloon Balloon. Led by the Beatlesque single ”I Don’t Have the Heart”, this is a near-perfect 21-track album.
