Lacquer, or Raquel Torre, is back with a new album – self-released in true DIY fashion. Just like her last album, which came out in 2022, Gone turns the dials back to the mid 80s before acid house became a thing. These 10 tracks revel in the innocence of italo as well as the darkness of post-punk and goth. It actually came out way back at the beginning of the year, but didn’t find its way into my consciousness until recent times. ”Alive” sounds as if it could have been a synth-pop hit from the early 80s.
