PREMIERE 乃٥乃 & Ougdol

If you don’t yet know Riforma, it’s an experimental label based in Turin and Berlin run by Kinked, Adriano Cava and NOT399093. They have just started a new series called fft_Materialism and the first release in the series is GN from French artist duo 乃٥乃 & Ougdol. Today we are premiering a video that presents an excerpt from the tape.

‘FFT’ in the name of the series comes from Fast Fourier Transform – an important measurement method in the science of audio and acoustics measurement. The combined tape and zine from 乃٥乃 & Ougdol approaches the matter from the central question posed by the series: What relationships exist between non-human and human entities?

The 12 tracks, to be released in October, is an exploration through sounds whose distinctions dissolve: ”walls merge with wetness, obscurity radiates warmth, and notions of direction – up, down, wide, or thick – become meaningless”. They’ve framed it by storytelling of the bodies and non-bodies of ‘gnomic’ entities.

The risographed zine and the maps created by 乃٥乃 & Ougdol themselves are meant to help you enter this ‘gnome-building’, along with a glossary of terms you might overhear whispered among the album’s spectral figures.
